Secure Care

There are 43 places spread between four self-contained units. Education and training facilities are contained within the secure perimeter, although young people on mobility programmes are encouraged to join in with the wider range of positive experiences available on the campus.

Although it is necessary for some young people to be placed away from their home area priority is given to admitting young people from the North East region so that links can be maintained with families and friends.

Specialist services are purchased where appropriate and close working relationships are maintained with a number of child care, health and allied organisations.

The full range of all care, education, catering, administrative and other services have recently been brought together under one senior manager to ensure that young people are provided with a consistency of experience and benefit from jointly planned services. Team work and flexibility are hallmarks of the service to ensure that an appropriate balance is maintained between security and quality of life issues.
